Terms of delivery
Group E (Departure)
The goods are directly exported by the buyer (consignee) from the seller's premises, with the buyer assuming responsibility for all further aspects.
- EXW (Ex Works) – The transportation is exclusively arranged by the recipient of the shipment, thereby bearing all risks and costs.
Group F (Main carriage not paid by seller)
The main part of the transportation is covered by the buyer. The seller (shipper) arranges the delivery of the goods to the carrier designated by the buyer (consignee).
- FCA (Free Carrier) – The seller ensures transportation to the agreed place of delivery to the carrier specified by the buyer. From this point onwards, the transportation and all related charges become the responsibility of the buyer (consignee).
- FAS (Free Alongside Ship) – The seller arranges transportation to the agreed port (alongside the vessel). From this point onwards, the transportation and all charges are borne by the buyer (consignee). The loading of the goods onto the vessel is therefore the buyer's responsibility.
- FOB (Free On Board) – The seller arranges transportation to the vessel at the agreed port. From this point onwards, the transportation and all charges are borne by the buyer (consignee). However, the loading of the goods onto the vessel remains the responsibility of the seller.
Group C (Main carriage paid by seller)
The main part of the transportation is covered by the seller.
- CFR (Cost and Freight) – The seller ensures transportation to the agreed destination port but is not responsible for the insurance of the shipment.
- CIF (Cost, Insurance and Freight) – The seller ensures transportation to the agreed destination port, including insurance of the shipment.
- CPT (Carriage Paid To) – The seller arranges transportation to the agreed place of destination but is not responsible for the insurance of the shipment.
- CIP (Carriage and Insurance Paid to) – The seller arranges transportation to the agreed place of destination, including insurance of the shipment.
Group D (Arrival)
The seller bears all costs and risks associated with the entire route of transporting the goods.
- DAP (Delivered at Place) – The seller provides transportation to the buyer's premises but does not cover any customs duties in the recipient's country.
- DAT (Delivered at Terminal) - The seller provides transportation to the terminal in the recipient's destination country. The buyer (consignee) then incurs any charges for releasing the shipment from the terminal.
- DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) - The seller provides transportation to the buyer's premises and also covers any customs duties in the recipient's country.
